Oh boy! Look what the URL dragged in…
My fingers sweat in excitement, I type as frantically as I speak and it’s really not that hard to tell from the wonder and fascination I have towards the digital space, that my village was only introduced to the internet in 2012!
Fast-forward to 2017 and inspirational women who command physical and virtual empires now surround me, women whose voices allow mine to rise. Digital content production has taught me quite a lot, but most significantly the importance of freedom of choice, especially when it comes to the consumption thereof. Most Internet users are notoriously picky when it comes to content and are nowadays producers of content in their own right themselves, which makes commanding an audience a rewarding experience.
As the years have gone by, distance has shrunk through cyber communities and the thriving digital economy, the world is now literally at our fingertips and there has never been a more exciting time to be online!
I am proud to be a woman in the digital industry, even though I dream of a time when gender and race ‘firsts’ will be a thing of the past, till then we will not disintegrate into nameless binary codes but stand to be counted as having been present during the digital revolution.
